Louann grew up in Columbus Grove OH, attended “Grove” High School, graduating in 1962, after-which she moved to Columbus to work at Union Telephone Company as an administrative assistant.  Shortly thereafter she met her sweetheart, George, at a military dance at Rickenbacker.  They married in 1964 and traveled the US and world.  She most enjoyed living in Italy (twice), where she pitched fast-pitch softball year-round, sometimes 2 leagues. She was proud to be an Air Force wife and threw herself into volunteer activities on-base working in Family Services, helping other military wives adjust to base life. After moving around the world, when George retired, Louann chose the home base, Columbus OH, where the family settled in 1981.  She went to work at Children’s Hospital as an administrative assistant in a couple of positions, finally settling in Infectious Diseases, where she worked until she retired in 1995.  After retirement, she traveled with her sweetheart and found more volunteer activities. She was an active member of the Wing Family of America, serving as the District 5 Representative and the Columbus Women’s Club. Prior to this she volunteered as a docent at The Ohio Governor’s Residence, a tour guide at the Ohio Statehouse and a Presiding Judge at the Franklin County Board of Elections.

The family wishes to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Ohio State University Medical Center for Louann’s care over the years, in particular the team at OSU Ross Heart Hospital, Division of Cardiovascular Disease.  A special thank you to Dr. Patrick Sylvester, Emergency Medicine/Internal Medicine, Resident and Sheila Hahn, R.N. for their hard work and compassion in her last days.
