Gatis (“Gus”) Erenpreiss, age 82, August 14, 2017. Born in Riga, Latvia to the late Rolands and Alma Erenpreiss. Also preceded in death by sister Roze (James) McGlashan. Gatis is survived by three children: Lisa (Stephen) Anfang; Scott (Bonita) Erenpreiss and family: Matthew (Kristin) Erenpreiss (sons Levi and James), Andrew Erenpreiss, and Emilija Erenpreiss; James (Lisa) Taylor and family. He is also survived by sister Eva Rawlings and life companion Maria Taylor. As a teenager, Gatis and his family bravely escaped their Latvian homeland during Soviet takeover in WWII and were sponsored by a generous family in Springfield, OH. He later moved to Columbus to study civil engineering at OSU. Gus enjoyed a long career and many hobbies over the years including piloting small planes, wine-making, gardening, and tending to many varieties of pets. Calling hours are 4-6:30 p.m. Monday, August 21 at EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 4661 Kenny Road, memorial service at 6:30 p.m.  Friends who wish to make a donation in his memory may contribute to Southwest Ohio Doberman Rescue.
