Welcome to the memorial page for

Gloria F. Whitlatch

March 9, 1933 ~ February 18, 2017 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Gloria F. Whitlatch, born March 9, 1933 in Lebanon, Pennsylvania and died February 18, 2017 in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.

She attended Elizabethtown College and was a retired property manager of several M/I Schottenstein complexes, including Wyandotte East. She was a member of Bexley United Methodist Church, serving in the Chancel Choir, Women’s Chorus, and Trustee and Finance Boards.

Coming from a humble upbringing, she forged new paths for her life. This allowed her three daughters to step freely into many pursuits—education, talents, careers, their spiritual lives, and families—through which she always was their biggest cheerleader and supporter. This extended to many others as well. She supported others’ dreams and made many lives better. She found much happiness in her later years in her marriage to Dr. Joseph P. Whitlatch. They traveled the world and created a wonderful home that welcomed their families, their grandkids and many friends, old and new.

She advanced medical science by faithfully participating for almost 25 years in the Women’s Health Initiative, studying the long-term effect of healthy habits in women. She developed a love of walking and enjoyed this to the end of her life.

Surviving are her beloved daughters, Cindy Leland, Patricia (Ross) Bridgman, and Sharon (Dave) Rich; and her treasured grandchildren, Ben and Maria Leland, and Trevor and Nigel Rich. She is also survived by her step-children, whom she loved dearly, Dr. Joseph (Mary Lou) Whitlatch, Judith (Joseph) McKinley, and Thomas (Ann) Whitlatch; and their children, Patrick (Kara) Whitlatch, Janna (Andy) Groom, Jared (Elizabeth) McKinley, Brian (Katie) Whitlatch, and Sean (Lindsey) Whitlatch,  and their grandchildren; and brother Donald (Juanita) Fuhrman.

Preceded in death by her cherished husband, Joseph Whitlatch, as well as mother, Mae Ayers, and father, William Fuhrman, and granddaughter, Jennifer Whitlatch.

We will remember Gloria’s life at a memorial service on March 18th at Wesley Ridge Retirement Community Kimes Chapel, 2225 Taylor Park Drive, Reynoldsburg, OH, at 10:30am. Private interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice Services at Methodist ElderCare at hospicemec.com or 124 B Dorchester Sq., Suite 200, Westerville, OH 43081.
