Wilma Hayes was born August 15, 1927 and died August 31, 2024. She was a dedicated loving mother, generous friend and loved all animals, good music, art, gardening and reading poetry. She had been in nursing training in Linz am Rhein, Germany until the end of WW2 and then started working with the American Red Cross, where she met her husband Cecil E. Hayes and moved to America. They were married 53 years until his death in 2007. She is survived by her sons Peter (Alberta Joy), Paul (Cindy) and Vincent (Brittany) Hayes; grandchildren Kyle (Fiancée Erica) , Amber (Jeff), Summer (Jeff), Tyler, Spencer; great-grandchildren Mary, Rachel, Eli, Sienna, Myles, Ava; loyal friends Sofie and Ingrid. She was a member of Christ the King Church since 1966. She was sociable but disliked large crowds. Her Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Friday September 20, 2024, at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel on the grounds of St. Joseph Cemetery 6440 S. High St. Lockbourne, OH 43137. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may contribute in her memory to the Columbus Humane Society.
