William (Bill) John Fairchild, 86, born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, passed away on December 27, 2025 after a long illness. A graduate of Holy Rosary High School and Franklin University. Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served with the Second Missile Command. Retired as a Financial Analyst from the U.S. Dept of Housing and Urban Development. A man of quiet strength, Bill led by example and was unwavering in his Catholic faith. Each Christmas Eve, as his family gathered around the table, Bill would read aloud from the Bible St. Luke’s account of the Nativity. It shall remain a treasured family memory. Bill was always ready to help family, friends and neighbors. He was a long-time, dedicated volunteer at Holy Family Soup Kitchen& Food Pantry and also Joseph’s Coat of Central Ohio. He was a lifetime member of the Tri-County Sportsmen Club and American Legion Post #532. Preceded in death by his parents Joseph W., Sr. and Marie (Lawler) Fairchild, brothers Msgr. Edward Fairchild and Joseph W. Fairchild, Jr. Survived by devoted wife of 63 years Jean (Kohar) Fairchild; beloved children son Stephen Fairchild (Janice), daughters Monica Samuelson (Ivan), and Susan Stehle (Erich); cherished grandchildren Alex Fairchild (Julianna), Megan Hargraves (Jacob), Mark Fairchild and Ashley Samuelson (fiancé Zack Donatelli); brother, James Fairchild (Linda) and sister-in-law, Elaine Fairchild; plus many dear nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 2, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Catharine of Sienna Church, 500 S. Gould Rd., Columbus, OH. Visitation to be held at the church on Friday beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial following Mass at Saint Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, OH.
