William Richard Sheehan Jr., 77, of Columbus, Ohio, went to the Lord on October 22, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents William R. Sheehan Sr. and Mary June (Strickfaden) Sheehan.
Survived by wife Francene (Faulkner) Sheehan, children Christopher, Suzanne, Rachael, Damion, Cole and Jordan; brother Thomas W. Sheehan and numerous grandchildren.
Bill worked for the Ohio Department of Development for many years. Prior to that he worked in the banking industry. He taught Marketing and Finance at Columbus State Community College where he was an adjunct professor.
Bill graduated from Bishop Watterson High School in 1964. He then attended The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. before transferring to The Ohio State University where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in History.
While at Ohio State, Bill was in the ROTC program and upon graduation was commissioned as an officer in The United States Air Force. He served six years in the Air Force attaining the rank of Captain. He was stationed at bases in Germany and Alaska and at several other locations during his tenure in the Air Force..
He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and was a season-ticket holder for many years. Bill enjoyed traveling.
In his later years, he loved to read and attended the Muirfield Golf Tournament annually.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday (Nov. 2) at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1899 McCoy Road, Columbus, Ohio 43220 with visitation hours being held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30a.m. The Reverend Fr. Charles Cotton will be the Celebrant. Bill and Fr. Cotton have known each other over the years since being classmates at Immaculate Conception School in Clintonville.
