William George Harvey (Bill, Harv) was born January 17, 1948 in Hartford CT and died March 31, 2024 in Columbus, OH. Bill is preceded in death by his father George, his mother Christine, his step-father Fred Hnatt, his brother Tom and sister Chris. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Maureen O’Neil Harvey (Moe) and their daughters, Carolyn Caperton (Brian), Teresa Lutz (Howard) and Susan Harvey (Jeremy). Bill found joy with his grandchildren Ashley Richardson (Christopher), Michael Caperton, Maura and Morgan Lutz and great grandchildren Andrew Caperton, Easton and Draken Richardson. Also surviving are many brothers and sisters-in law, numerous nieces, nephews and many other children who loved Bill. Bill served in the U.S. Army, 1st Infantry Division and considered his fellow Vietnam Veterans among his closest friends. After service to our country, Bill graduated from The Ohio State University and began a successful career in finance. His career included The Huntington National Bank, a partner at Deloitte, and KPMG. As a long time resident of Bexley Ohio, Bill was appointed Service Director for the City of Bexley and later elected as Auditor for the City. Being an avid and accomplished SCUBA diver, Bill completed over 3,000 recreational dives. His passion for SCUBA diving took him to many exotic locations allowing him to swim with all types of sharks, whales and beautiful sealife. He and Moe were also fortunate to visit all 50 states. Calling hours will be held Friday, April 5th from 4 P.M to 7 P.M. at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 403 East Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43215. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 6th, 11:00 A.M. at St. Catharine of Siena Church, 500 South Gould Road, Columbus, OH 43209. Burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tom Harvey Memorial Dog Park, 404 Booth Ave., Wilmington, OH 45177, Lifeline of Ohio at www.lifelineofohio.org or St. Catharine Church.
