Virginia Mary Rose Barch “Ginny” Spillers, 91, passed peacefully to heaven on March 22, 2021. Matthew (Megan), Stephanie, and Justin ; great-grandchildren: Tally and Zoe; special grandchildren: Kathy and Anne(Adam), Grant and Emme; special neighbors and friends Diane and Bob Dorinsky ;her exercise buddies at the Gerlach Center; and her KB2 neighbors and dining buddies. Ginny channeled her life-long desire to become a nurse into serving others. She was a 54-year member of St. Timothy’s Catholic Church. Her strong faith and special devotion to the Blessed Mother was reflected in her time given as a volunteer in her parish, parish school, and Whetstone Care Center; her kindness, and gentle humor to all she met, especially the elderly; her grace in troubling or challenging situations, even as her health began to fail; and her reluctance to accept praise or gratitude for herself. Mostly called Ginny, she was also affectionately called Gin, Lady, Polish Princess, and Grandmother. She was a faithful daughter, special sister, loving wife, a mom to all, and a welcoming and loving mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Ginny was a supreme teacher to her children, grandchildren, friends and caregivers of the art of aging gracefully with humor and compassion. With a twinkle in her eye, her hallmark special sense of humor and a loving touch of sass, she freely gave a smile and encouraging word to everyone. Hospitality to her family, neighbors, and friends, classical music, especially Mozart, hyacinths, yellow roses, songbirds, visits from her family, her Sunday martini, occasional glass of chardonnay, and NCIS were favorite parts of her days.
