Virginia A. Gilbert, age 91, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025. She was born on January 14, 1934 in Columbus to the late Catherine and Frederick Plimell. Graduate of Columbus North High School and The Ohio State University with her degree in Elementary Education. Ginny was a longtime employee of Columbus Public Schools. She married Coit H. Gilbert in 1962 and resided in Clintonville most of her life. She lived over 50 years on Canyon Drive where she had many friends and enjoyed sitting out in the front yard talking with neighbors while they walked by in her later years. Ginny was a very social person who enjoyed playing with her bridge club and getting together with friends, especially the Glenmont and Second Avenue School Staffs. She was a big fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds. Ginny is preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her children, Rebecca (Robert) Schisler and Thomas (Mary Lynn) Gilbert; grandchildren, Justin (Alejandra Castillo) Schisler and Adam Schisler and Frederick Gilbert; partner Carl Karrer. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 pm and Friday from 2-3pm at Egan-Ryan Northwest Chapel, 4661 Kenny Road where a Funeral Service will begin at 3pm. A reception will follow at the Dublin Historical Museum, 35 South High Street, Dublin, Ohio 43017. Please enter through the rear door. Private burial at Resurrection Cemetery. The Gilbert family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Cotter House for their care of Ginny.
