Vilma Violeta Negron, 66, of Columbus, passed away on August 14th, 2021 surrounded by her greatest joy: her children.
Vilma was born on March 18th, 1955 to Justo Negron and Adela Rivera in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she grew up the third of six children. Later she would move to Ann Arbor, MI to receive a Masters in Science, Mathematics from the University of Michigan, paving the way for a long career in software development where she was always considered a joy to work with by her colleagues.
Vilma was wholeheartedly devoted to her five children: Maria Fatima, Angela Cristina, Antonio José, Tomás Alberto, and Juan José. For nearly 40 years, her life was given to them, both as a stay at home mom and as the primary breadwinner. Whether it was driving the boys to their sporting events, helping pay their college tuition, cooking dinner, celebrating simple birthdays and holidays, or courageously and lovingly facing the adversity of her youngest son’s autism, she created a home both filled with life and sustained by faith. She will always be remembered for her unfailing love and self-sacrifice, especially by her children, who know how blessed they’ve been to have her as a mother. To those who knew her, her holiness and joy will not be soon forgotten.
Vilma was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her five children and 10 grandchildren.
