After graduating, he married the love of his life, Karen (Murnane), on June 17, 1967 while he was a social studies teacher at Bishop Ready High School from 1965 to 1968. He then entered the U.S. Army.  After his return from the Army in 1970, he taught one more year at Ready.  In 1971 he became principal of Columbus St. Christopher School.   The next year, he took on the additional duty of principal of Columbus Our Lady of Victory School.  After the two grade schools were officially merged, he served as principal in 1973-74 of the newly organized Trinity Elementary School – which serves Our Lady of Victory, St. Christopher and Columbus St. Margaret Parishes.  He then joined the Catholic Conference of Ohio as its Government Programs Coordinator in 1974 where he was a passionate supporter of all catholic institutions.  One of his greatest and proudest accomplishments with the CCO was catholic/private school busing to ensure catholic/private school students were transported via public school busing system.  Tim was also active in the private sector and began a successful exposition company, Erin Enterprises.   He created and led the Ohio RV and Boat Show for 42 years.   He retired as Director of the Catholic Conference of Ohio in 2007 and continued to lead the RV and Boat Show through 2022.

Tim was devoted to his wife of almost 55 years and raised three children.  He never met a stranger, loved watersports at both Norris Lake and Buckeye Lake and loved snowskiing.  He absolutely loved kids and most of all treasured his family and his family treasured him.  Preceded in death by parents John and Helen (Rappold) Luckhaupt; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Ellen (Ed) Murtha and Joanie (Richard) Mercer; brothers-in-law, Jack Power, Patrick Murnane, and Tom Murnane; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Murnane and Jean Luckhaupt; and granddaughter Grace Luckhaupt.  Survived by his wife Karen, sons Kevin (Jennifer) Luckhaupt and Kris (Jenn) Luckhaupt; daughter Erin Luckhaupt; grandchildren Taylor, Abby, Ali, Victoria, Joseph, and Patrick Luckhaupt; brother David Luckhaupt and sister Kathy Power; brother-in-law, Jim (Patty Murnane); sisters-in-law, Carolyn Murnane, Kathy Murnane, Patty (Jeff) Cornwell; many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
