Suzanne M. Haney

Suzanne Haney, 83, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2023 after suffering from Alzheimers / dementia. 

She is survived by her children: HJ (Carolyn), Patrick (Karen), Annie (Chandra), and Drew (Mandy); grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harry J Haney Jr;  brothers Colby Grimes, Daniel Grimes, Revered Kenneth Grimes, and sister Nancy Quinn as well her parents JC& Rebecca Grimes.

After graduating from St Mary of the Springs High School, Sue followed her sister into Nursing at the Mt Carmel School of Nursing and then Mt Carmel Hospital where she worked many years in the labor & delivery unit and then post-partum units.  She loved the babies, and loved taking care of people.  In 1961 she married the love of her life, Harry Haney, Jr. and they raised their family on Columbus’ west side, juggling the kid’s sports schedules and operating Haney’s Economy Drug Stores.

Sue was very active in retirement at St Joan of Arc Church, as a sacristan and Eucharistic Minister and continued to volunteer at Mt Carmel Hospital. 

Visitation will be held at St Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 10700 Liberty Rd, Powell, OH 43065 on Friday, April 28, 2023 from 10 AM to 11 AM where a Funeral Mass will begin at 11 AM.  Fr. James Black, Celebrant.  Private burial will be held at St Joseph Cemetery in Columbus. 

The family would like to thank the wonderful team at Cedar Living in Mayfield Heights, OH where Sue lived since 2021 and the team at Crossroads Hospice for the wonderful care they provided Sue.  Mom was a big fan of St Jude Children’s Hospital and the Mt Carmel School of Nursing.  In lieu of flowers, we respectfully request donations to either of these wonderful organizations.
