Dominican Sister of Peace, Sister Mary Ann Connolly died at Mount Carmel East Hospital on May 28, 2025. She was born in 1932 in Cincinnati, Ohio and in 1952 entered the Congregation of St. Mary of the Springs, now the Dominican Sisters of Peace.
Sr. Mary Ann earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from St. Mary of the Springs College, now Ohio Dominican University, and her PhD in Spanish Language and Literature from Yale University. She served as an elementary and high school teacher in New Mexico, Ohio and Pittsburgh, professor and administrator at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven and at Ohio Dominican University. She served as a missionary in Chimbote, Peru, in Immigration Assistance in Palmetto, Florida, and as secretary to Congregational Leadership.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Joseph and Frances Koetters Connolly and brothers Colonel John J, Jr. and James G. Connolly. She is survived by nieces and nephews.
A Vigil of Remembrance Service will be held on June 10, 2025,at 4:45 p.m. at the Dominican Sisters of Peace Motherhouse Chapel, Columbus, Ohio.
The funeral liturgy will take place at the Dominican Sisters of Peace Motherhouse Chapel at 9:30 AM on June 11, 2025, followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery by Egan-Ryan Funeral Home.
