Sr. Mary Meenan, OP

Dominican Sister of Peace, Sister Mary (Sister Mary Eugene) Meenan died at Mohun Health Care Center, Columbus, OH on April 4, 2026. She was born in 1929 in Philadelphia, PA and in 1955 entered the congregation of the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine de Ricci now the Dominican  Sisters of Peace. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Education from the College of St. Rose, Albany, NY, studied at Villanova University and completed her Clinical Pastoral Education at St. Joseph Hospital in Albuquerque. She served in Retreat Ministry in PA, NY, FL, OH, NM and SC, in Religious Education in NY, and in Pastoral Care in PA. She was preceded in death by her parents Owen and Mary Ann Magee Meenan, her sister Ann Meenan and brother Eugene  Meenan. She is survived by her godson and cousins. A Vigil of Remembrance Service will be held at 4:30 PM on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at the Dominican Sisters of Peace Motherhouse Chapel, Columbus, OH. The funeral liturgy will be held at the Dominican Sisters of Peace Motherhouse Chapel at 9:30 AM on Friday, April 10, 2026 followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery by Egan-Ryan Funeral Home. Memorial gifts in Sr. Mary’s memory may be sent to the Dominican Sisters of Peace, Office of Mission Advancement 2320 Airport Drive, Columbus, OH 43219, or submitted securely at oppeace.org.
