Sr. Barbara Kolesar, OP Obituary

Dominican Sister of Peace, Sister Barbara Rose Kolesar (Sister Mary Juanita) died at Mohun Health Care Center, Columbus, OH on November 11, 1025.  She was born in 1940 in Bergholz, OH and in 1958 entered the Congregation of St. Mary of the Springs, now the Dominican Sisters of Peace. 

Sr. Barbara earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from St. Mary of the Springs College (now Ohio Dominican University) and a Master of Science in Reading Education from the University of Dayton. She taught in schools in Connecticut, Ohio, and Michigan and served as Pastoral Assistant at Our Lady of Peace Parish in Columbus, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John C. and Mary H. Skolosh Kolesar, and her brothers Monsignor John and Francis P. Kolesar.

A Vigil of Remembrance Service will be held at 4:45 PM on November 24, 2025 at the Dominican Sisters of Peace Motherhouse Chapel, Columbus, OH.

Friends may call on November 25, 2025 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Columbus, Ohio.

The funeral liturgy will be held at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church at 10:30 am on November 25, 2025 followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery by Egan-Ryan Funeral Home.
