Shirley A. Kotsanos 90 years young, went home to be with the Lord on Aug 13, 2020. Shirley was born in Columbus on December 26, 1929 the daughter of Robert M. and Beulah (nee Sego) Daugherty. Shirley lived in Columbus all her life until the last 4 years when she moved to Lagrange, KY to live with her daughter Sharry.
Shirley loved to worship the Lord and was a member of The Pentecostals of Carrollton Church in KY and Calvary Church, Steubenville, OH. She served Jesus to the best of her ability teaching young and old about the Jesus she loved and served. Shirley met the love of her life, Nicholas Kotsanos, and they were married on August 31, 1948.
Shirley loved life and lived it to its fullest, but became one of the thousands of indirect casualties of COVID-19 when illness forced her to enter a rehabilitation center where no visitors were allowed. Having never been separated from her family, the isolation and separation from her children, family and loved ones led to a failure to thrive. Only when Shirley entered the end of life stage were family allowed to see her and by then it was too late.
Shirley is survived by her loving children Pastor John Kotsanos (Rachel) of Steubenville, OH, Sharry (Mo) Daniels of Bedford, KY, and daughter Koukla Cashdollar of Columbus. Shirley was Yai-Yai to Jonathan Kotsanos, Nicholas (Racheal) and Zander Daniels, and Clayton, Kristianna, Carrington, and Kingston Cashdollar and was Great Yai-Yai to Gunnar Kotsanos. Shirley is also survived by her sister-in-law Isabel White and best friend Joyce Myers. Shirley was also a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews including her beloved Brat, great-aunt, great-great aunt, cousin and a friend to hundreds. She will be genuinely missed.
Besides her parents, Shirley was preceded by her husband Nicholas (2008), her sister Marylou McGonigle Vance (2010), her brothers Ralph White (2015) and Robert (Daugherty) Bentley along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The Kotsanos Family will receive family and friends on Tuesday August 18, 2020 at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home 4661 Kenny Road from 11am until the beginning of her Home Going Service at 1pm. Pastor Ron Tiller and Shirley’s son Pastor John Kotsanos officiating. Shirley will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in The Kotsanos Plot at Sunset Cemetery, Galloway, OH.
