Shirley A. (Johnson) Callahan

Shirley (Johnson) Callahan born December 2, 1938 in Columbus, Ohio passed away peacefully on November 5, 2021. Graduate of Newark St. Francis Class of 1957, Mount Carmel School of Nursing 1960. Preceded in death by parents: Richard and Helen (Tritschler) Johnson, brother Richard B. Johnson (Cleveland) and brother-in-law Frank Walther (Newark, OH). Survived by her loving husband of 60 years John A Callahan of Pickerington, children: Michael Callahan (Lake Orion, MI), Mark (Patsy) Callahan (Dublin, OH), Karen Trago (Pickerington, OH), Kevin (Peggy) Callahan (Hinsdale, IL) Steve (Matt) Callahan (Los Angeles, CA) and Katie (Michael) Finch (Gahanna, OH) brother-in-law: Tom (JoAnn) Callahan (Cleveland, OH), sisters-in-law Kathy Johnson (Cleveland, OH) and Rosemary Walther (Newark, OH) and 11 grandchildren.  Shirley was proud to be a wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. She enjoyed watching all her children and grandchildren’s activities and was an avid fan and supporter of all her children’s college alma maters. Shirley was an active member of St. Pius X Parish to include being a Eucharistic Minister and helping establish the Pre-Cana program. Shirley enjoyed her nursing career and enjoyed lifelong friendships with many people.  Some of her favorite times were her monthly luncheons with her grade school and nursing friends.  She also enjoyed daily calls from her children and grandchildren about their busy lives. Visitation will be held at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home 403 E. Broad St. Columbus, November 11, 2021 from 4-7pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church 1051 Waggoner Rd. Reynoldsburg, OH 43068, November 12 at 10:30am with entombment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
