Sheila Rees was called home to God on March 18, 2026, in Columbus, Ohio.
She was born on May 22, 1948, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Paul J. and Rosemary Scheiber, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Michael Rees; her brother, Joe Scheiber; her son-in-law, Todd Van Allen; and her brother-in-law, Michael Scott.
Sheila is lovingly survived by her faithful dog, Frankie; her children, Shannon Rees, Shelley Van Allen, Matthew Rees (Celene), and Stephanie Lewallen (Kenneth); and her grandchildren, Shanessa Rees, Whitney Woodson (Boaz Laguerre), Zachary Rees, Shianne Rees, and Reese Lewallen. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Aivy and Kayomi Laguerre.
She is further survived by her siblings, Dan Scheiber (Sandi), Paul J. Scheiber Jr., Janet Scott, Mary Plute (David), Terri Burud (Joe), and Sara Scarborough (Matt), along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Sheila was a devoted member of St. Peter St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.
She had a deep love for Cleveland and Ohio State sports, cheering passionately for her teams. She was known for her humor and unwavering loyalty, often declaring a game over long before the final whistle—especially when it came to her beloved Indians (never Guardians) or Ohio State basketball.
Sheila found joy in simple pleasures, including cooking—where butter was always a key ingredient—and spending time with close friends playing cards, coloring, and attending monthly luncheons at the Griswold Center.
She dedicated many years of service to the St. Lucie County School Board, where she worked as the county athletic secretary and as a library assistant at Village Green Elementary. She also coached various sports, including softball and bowling, leaving a lasting impact on many students and athletes.
Above all, Sheila cherished her family. She loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and supporting their passions. You always knew she was arriving, often spotted in her bright orange car.
Sheila will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her love, laughter, and unwavering spirit.
