Sharon Black Obituary

Sharon was born on August 2, 1946 in Columbus, Ohio to Raymond and Anna Black. She transitioned on June 7, 2026. As a young girl Sharon was active in church. Volunteering in the children’s ministry and often lead small group Bible studies. Growing up she enjoyed Saturday mornings breakfast dancing with her parents and siblings. 

Sharon was most notably known as the fashionista of the family and was graced with the talent to sew, becoming a self employed seamstress. She constructed garments for church dance teams and choirs. Sharon worked as a realtor for Coldwell Banker in the city of Columbus and later retired as a transportation operator from Columbus Public Schools.

Post retirement Sharon served as a driver for Mt. Olivet Baptist Church where she met and married Godfrey Christian. Sharon enjoyed hosting family gatherings, with lots food, music and dancing. She spent her latter years traveling and living a full life with her husband. Her favorite pastime was fussing while simultaneously loving. Sharon made it her life’s mission to teach her children and grandchildren The Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Sharon is preceded in death by her husband Godfrey Whitfield Christian (2022). Her parents Raymond and Ann Black. Her brothers Arthur and Raymond Black Junior. Sharon is survived by two siblings Douglas (Rosalind) Black and Charlene King. Two daughters Jatona and Kivi Black. She also leaves behind grandchildren Anthony, Antionne, Lauren Black and Daniel Sinclair as well as six great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sharon is dearly beloved by family and friends and she will be truly missed.
