Ronald A Walters passed away unexpectedly on May 11th, 2024. He was born on September 18,1946 in Newark, Ohio to Robert B. Walters and Lauretta J. (Clark) Walters, both deceased.
Ron grew up on a farm alongside his three brothers where he helped tend the farm and spent time playing basketball and baseball. Ron graduated from Lakewood High School in 1964. He attended Ohio State University majoring in Agriculture and graduated from Franklin University in 1974.
Ron’s career after farming turned to the financial industry. He worked for Columbus Fifth/Third Bank, retired from J.P. Morgan Chase after 26 years in 2001, then retired from Park National Bank, Newark, in 2013. Soon after retiring, he became CFO and co-founder of a real estate investment company along with Marianne and Warwick Ferretti. He enjoyed the buying and renovating of houses and working with the renters for the last 18 years.
Ron loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, especially growing roses and hibiscus. In his early years, he enjoyed working on his uncle’s farm.
Some of Ron’s fondest memories were watching his daughters play sports. He coached both softball and basketball during the grade school years. He became a long-time supporter of Bishop Watterson High School athletics. He served as President and secretary of the Bishop Watterson Athletic Association and was an important part of fundraising for the athletic program. He was inducted into the Bishop Watterson Hall of Fame for his achievements. Later in life he was a proud member of the Bishop Watterson “HagelyCrew” and was a leader in the Hagely Field restoration project.
His love of sports carried on through the years as he attended many of the grandchildren’s sporting events and enjoyed following Ohio State football and basketball. His favorite vacations were spent in Destin, Florida.
He is survived by his wife Marianne of 50 years, daughters and sons-in-law, Kim (Steve) Peck of Clintonville and Tricia (Chris) Sakles of Baltimore, MD. He had 5 grandchildren, Carson Peck (long-time girlfriend Anna), Caroline Peck, Samson Sakles, Ronald Sheppard Sakles, and Solomon Sakles. He is also survived by 3 brothers, Gary (Vicci) Walters, Thomas (Susan) Walters, and Dan (Marjeanne) Walters. He is also survived by friend and business partner, Warwick Ferretti, and many other dear friends and family.
Special thanks to Ron’s devoted physician, Dr. Dan Meleragno, and Regna in his office for providing expert care for many years.
Above all he loved his family. He was always his daughter’s and grandchildren’s biggest fan!
