Roman Czech Obituary

Roman F. Czech age 71, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, August 02, 2018.  Roman’s spirit is carried on by his wife, Deborah Good Czech, Roman’s daughter Stasia (Fadi) Suleiman and granddaughter Aya and Roman’s son Andrzej (Leah) Czech.  He is predeceased by his parents Stanislawa and Wladyslaw Czech, and brother Jerzy. His memory lives through his brother Wieslaw (Anna) Czech and their son Ziemek (Monika) Czech and children Miron, Iwo, Dobrawa and Jaromir and daughter Justyna (Jaroslaw) Czarnecka and children Hanna and Ada of Tarnobrzeg, Poland.

Roman will be dearly missed by mother-in-law Margaret (Fredrick) Good and brother-in-law’s, Theodore Good, William Good and his children Ally, Will and Grace and Phil (Sharon) Conrad and Mindi (John) Griffin and son Connor.

Always living life with a sense of discovery and chance, Roman immigrated from Poland in 1972 to the United States.  There (in Columbus, Ohio), he met Debbi and began their lives as a family together, by having two children, Stasia and Andrzej.  Roman cared deeply for his family, and always wanted to make sure that he was able to provide a life of experience and opportunity for his family.  One of the many passions Roman imprinted onto his family, included his love for art, traveling and photography.  As a family, they were able to enjoy life through traveling, with the most meaningful last trip being to his native homeland of Poland in the fall of 2017.

Some would describe his retirement as a Renaissance Man – with such professions as architecture, developer, business owner, and entrepreneur - his true passion and career definition came in the form and title of ‘artist’.  Roman was well known in the global art community, either by representing artists in his self-operated galleries, or by his exploration of his own work through sculpture and painting.  Even with his thick polish accent, the universal language of art always translated perfectly through communication.  Through all of Roman’s accomplishments, his investment and passion of art is what his family is most proud of, because it always seemed to bring people together.

Everyone who remembers him, is asked to celebrate Roman’s life in their own way by finding beauty and appreciation in the simple things.  Whether it be a building he once saw, or a rock he found in nature, Roman always tried to express himself through life.  His sense of humor and open demeanor seemed perfect for the life he lived, and those that will live his life on.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Columbus Museum of Art, 480 East Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43215 or Kobacker House, 800 McConnell Drive, Columbus,  OH 43214.

Roman’s friends and family will be gathering for a “Celebration of Life” at the Columbus Museum of Art on Friday, August 31st, 2018 at 10:00am.

We’ll always deeply miss you.
