Roisin Brigid McCord died suddenly and unexpectedly of natural causes at her home in Birmingham, Alabama, on the morning of June 16. She was 34 years old.
Roisin was born in Columbus, Ohio, and attended St. Agatha elementary school in Upper Arlington and Bishop Watterson High School in Columbus. She graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2013 with B.S. degrees in economics and mathematics. Between 2013 and 2015 she worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. She then studied economics at the University of Virginia, receiving her M.S. degree in 2016, before returning to work at the Richmond Fed. Since June 2022, she was the Director of the Regional Economic Information Network at the Birmingham branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. She was passionate about her work and loved her colleagues.
Roisin loved to dance. She was a competitive Irish step dancer. She joined the Irish step dancing team and the swing dance club at Notre Dame and always looked for opportunities to dance whenever she could. Roisin also loved dogs, running, knitting, doing puzzles, and watching old movies. (Her favorites were Bringing Up Baby and Rear Window.)She was proud of her Irish heritage, found great joy in studying the Irish language over the last year and a half, and was very happy to have recently renewed her Irish passport. Most of all, she loved her family, friends, and colleagues, and they loved her. She radiated love, joy, humility, warmth, and intelligence. She had a wonderful sense of humor, could tell a great story, and had a knack for making even the smallest events from her life seem interesting and exciting. She was always smiling and lit up every room she entered.
Roisin is survived by her parents Mark and Ursula (Maher) McCord, her brothers Seamus and Declan McCord, her dog Bridie, her uncles James McCord, Raymond (Chip) McCord, and Kevin Maher, aunt Bess-Catherine McCord, godson Matty Aylmer, and many cousins, friends, and colleagues.
