Robert John Grassi

Robert John “Bob” Grassi,  peacefully passed away Saturday, February 29, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family and beloved cats Callie, Sadie, and Tigey.

He was born on August 21, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York to Anthony and Elva Grassi.  He joined the Catholic Brotherhood and spent several years in the Seminary as a novitiate after high school.  He left the brotherhood to attend college and continued to have a lifelong deep faith. Bob ‘s last occupation was a Judge. He is known for his love, compassion, and always thinking of others before himself.  He truly lived his faith by loving, mentoring, and praying for others.  He enjoyed a very full life with a loving family, doting on this grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He enjoyed hiking, nature, animals, and holistic research.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Elva Grassi; his sisters Anthonia Grassi and Alice Grassi Yoshioka, and brother Ralph Grassi.

Survivors include: his loving wife of 56 years, Rosemarie Jane Grassi; three children Danielle Lautzenheiser (husband Dean), John Grassi (wife Debbie), and Michael Grassi (wife Anne); nine grandchildren Matthew DeCarlo, Kassandra Grassi (husband Tyrone), Nicole O’Donnell (husband Michael), Anthony Lautzenheiser (wife Heather), Ben Lautzenheiser (wife Kate), Caitlin Lautzenheiser, Rachel Grassi, Marie Grassi, Kyle Grassi, and Mark Grassi; eight Great Grandchildren Makaila DeCarlo, Emilie DeCarlo, Hailey DeCarlo, Kinsley DeCarlo, Tarone Jackson, Lincoln O’Donnell, Violet O’Donnell, and Aiden Lautzenheiser; two brothers Ron Grassi (wife Cathy) and Richard Grassi; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The Funeral Mass for Mr. Robert John Grassi, age 86 of Lewis Center will be conducted Wednesday,  March 4, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul The Apostle Church with Father Gwinner Celebrant. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 E. Broad Street and Wednesday 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass, as well as at a reception following the services.  Private burial later.
