Rita Flanagan, born November 23, 1942 passed away peacefully in her sleep after fighting a long battle with Alzheimer’s on August 5, 2022. She was classy, feisty, and the glue that held our family together. Rita was a loving wife, understanding mother, patient and adoring Nana (grandmother), and a good friend to all the teachers and children at St. Timothy’s school for over 25 years as the school secretary. Rita loved to cook and holidays were a food fest with her Italian dinners, (world) famous meatballs, and unforgettable cookies. Rita was an avid walker and loved to read when she wasn’t cooking. She knew no stranger and her friendships were life long. Rita will be missed for her kindness and generosity as well as her love for everyone. She is now reunited with her loved ones that have gone before her. We will miss her immensely! She left behind her beloved spouse of 55 years James; sons Thomas and Michael; grandchildren Jacob, Paxton, Macale and Kyle. Rita was also survived by her two brothers Phil (Sandy) and Bill (Yvonne) Giammarco and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents Pete and Mary Giammarco, her sister Lena Hatfield, and her brother Paul Giammarco. Family and friends may visit 4 - 7pm, Monday August 15th at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 4661 Kenny Road Columbus, OH 43220.
