Richard John Lauber, age 87, of Upper Arlington, Ohio, passed away into the arms of the Lord on June 17, 2026. He was a devout Roman Catholic, a deeply dedicated family man, and a proud veteran.
Born on May 19, 1939, in St. Henry, Ohio, Richard was a 1961 graduate of the University of Notre Dame. Following his education, he honorably served his country as a First Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. Upon returning to civilian life, he built a distinguished professional career as a commodity broker. His faith, family, military service, and Notre Dame, were the great pillars of his life.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Cecilia Lauber.
He leaves behind a rich legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Katy Lauber. He is also survived by his three sons and their families: Erick and Lisa Lauber of Columbus, Ohio, and children, Colin, Thomas, and Kaitlyn; Kurt and Theresa Lauber of Saint Paul, Minnesota, and children, Nolan, Sophia, Bernadette, Ronan, and Maclean; and Chris and Jolene Lauber of Cincinnati, Ohio, and children, Kendall, JJ, and Jack. He is also survived and fondly remembered by a large, close-knit circle, including many cousins, extended family members, and friends whom he treasured throughout his life.
Family and friends are invited to a formal visitation and Vigil Service, including the recitation of the Holy Rosary, on Friday, June 26, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 4661 Kenny Road. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, at St. Andrew Catholic Church.
