Regina (Jean) Flaherty

Regina (Jean) McCort Flaherty passed away on November 29, 2024.

She was born April 24, 1937 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, to the late William Thomas McCort & Florence Gallagher McCort. As a young mother, she and her husband, Michael, moved to Columbus, Ohio to raise their family.

Jean was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  Nicknamed Grandma Cookie by her grandson, Sean, she enjoyed baking, quilting, and baby sitting her grandchildren.  In her earlier years, she also square danced and golfed.  She worked at Lazarus and Worthington Foods, and enjoyed retirement in Summerfield, FL for 15 years with her husband.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael E. Flaherty, son-in-law Michael Gaus, and grandson Shayne Flaherty, sisters Caroline Hraback, Aldretta Mengon, Janine Bizanovich, Florence Reirdon and Geraldine Mansuy, and brothers, Abe, Bill, Art and Doug McCort.

Jean is survived by her children, James (Kristi), Joseph (Laura), Margaret (Rex) Dardinger, Timothy (Marcy) and Ellen Gaus; 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; sisters, Therese Santin, Anne Reisbeck, and Kay Mallett; brother, Gerald McCort: and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Brigid of Kildare Church 7179 Avery Rd. Dublin, Ohio on Tuesday December 10, at 11:00 am.  Visitation in the chapel from 10 am to 11 am.
