Raymond Paul “Ray” Bott, age 96, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, on March 28, 1930, Ray was a proud United States Air Force veteran who honorably served during the Korean War.
Ray was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Rose Bott; his parents, Larry and Rose (Haas) Bott; his in-laws, Herman and Rose Marie (Ritz) Leitwein; and his siblings, Dorothy (Harry) Custer, Larry (Lois) Bott, Connie Fitzsimons, Jerry (Sue) Bott, and his extended family members, including in-laws Herman (Edna) Leitwein, Norman Leitwein, Bernie (Eleanor) Leitwein, Kelly Poling (Jim McEneany and Arnold Poling).
Ray is survived by his loving children: Paul (Debbie) Bott, Rosie (Tony) DiPasquale, Vickie (Keith) Heinlein, Chris (Dwane) Haggy, Tom (Tiffiny) Bott, and Joanie (Mike) Murphy. His legacy lives on through his adoring grandchildren: Eric, Aaron (Josi), Nate (Kelsey), Danielle, Andy (Kristen), Tim (Mandy), Greg (Emily), Bethany, Matthew, Derek, Alex (Dom), Nick (Michaela), Sam (Brittany), Amy (Tyler), Kelly (Eric), and Megan (Joel). He was also a cherished great-grandfather to 19 great-grandchildren: Jocelynn, RaeLynn, Thea, Odessa, Eliza, Miles, Finn, Caroline, Lukas, Madelyn, Simon, Arthur, Daniel, Julia, Brayden, Jacob, Carter, Blair, and Charlotte.
Ray's life was filled with love, laughter, and music. He shared a special bond with his musician friends, who kept him singing on stage until the very end, a testament to his joy and passion for life. He was deeply loved by his extended family, including numerous nieces, nephews, and other dear relatives, as well as cherished family friends, Jeanne and Joe Babeaux.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the wonderful team at Capital City Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Ray’s final months.
A visitation will be held from 4 PM to 7 PM on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home (403 E. Broad Street). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Christ the King Catholic Church (2777 E. Livingston Avenue). Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Capital City Hospice, or in honor of Ray's lifelong love for animals, please consider adopting a dog in his memory.
Ray's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
