Phyllis L. Goodin, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and woman of unwavering faith, peacefully passed into eternal rest on June 20, 2025. Born on November 23, 1936, in Columbus, Ohio. Phyllis was the cherished daughter of William and Phyllis McCurdy. She lived a life that radiated love, compassion, and service.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald P. Goodin; and her sister, Karen Cook. Though she has joined them in eternal peace, her spirit lives on through those who survive her.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and faith in her three children: Susan (Anthony) Vargo, Robert Goodin, and Carolyn Beck. Phyllis found immense joy in her role as a grandmother to Kristin (Kirk) Rouze, Katie (Nathan) Edwards, Ben (Bailey) Vargo, Maddie (Jesus) Cruz, and Patrick Beck. Her eight great-grandchildren brought her boundless pride and happiness. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Hamilton, her sister-in-law, Evelyn Goodin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Phyllis’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She possessed a servant’s heart and gave selflessly to others with grace and humility. Whether it was offering a listening ear, volunteering her time, or supporting causes dear to her heart, Phyllis embodied the spirit of kindness and generosity.
A graveside service celebrating Phyllis’s life will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather for calling hours from 10 - 11 a.m. at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home Central Chapel, 403 E. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215.
Phyllis L. Goodin leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and love. Her warmth, wisdom, and steadfast belief in the goodness of others will live on in all who knew her.
