Peter C. Labita, age 80, Friday April 12, 2024 at his residence. Ordained a Deacon in the Catholic Church October 12, 1980 by Bishop Edward Herrmann. He recently retired as Deacon at Christ the King Church after more than 40 years of service. Pete was originally from Suffern, New York and came to Columbus with his term in the U. S. Air Force. He graduated from Capital University and received his Masters Degree from Loyola University, Louisiana. Among his many accomplishments at Christ the King, he was very proud of helping to start the Appalachian Service Project, which continues today. In his years of service he helped many different people in many different ways. Pete is survived by his wife of 54 years Paula Masys Labita; children Andrea, Kirstin, Nick, and Corinne; grandchildren Ethan, Isaac, Joey, Josie, Norah, Quinn, Zoe and Hudson; nephews Anthony and Michael Tymchuk; cousins and many friends. A Prayer Service will be Tuesday at 3:45 p.m. and friends may call Tuesday 4-7 p. m. at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 403 E. Broad St. and also at Christ the King Church, 2777 E. Livingston Ave. Wednesday 9:30-10:30 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends who wish may contribute to the Christ the King Appalachian Project.
