Peggy Ann Burns, 73 years old, of Newark, Ohio passed away at The Arthur G James Cancer Hospital at OSU Medical center on August, 25, 2025.
Peggy was born July 23, 1952 in Athens, Ohio, and graduated from Morgan High School. She began her lifelong career in the grocery world at the family business Burns Foodtown and continued at Riesbeck’s, Pick ‘n Save, Carnival Foods and finally Kroger Marketplace.
The loves of her life were live music and her family, not in any particular order. She enjoyed long walks on the beach, music by John Mayer and she definitely was not yelling. She treasured her lunch dates and phone calls with lifelong friends Lin and Kathy.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Howard (Bud) and Donna Burns, and brother-in-law Rocky Weida. She is survived by sister Susan Weida; daughters Ali Olasin (Joe) Scott and Andi (Andrew) Earley; grandchildren Makenzie Scott, Chance Thomas, Elijah (Abi) Scott, Kasen Gilliland, Jude Scott and Lincoln Gilliland; great grandchildren Percy and Eri Stevens; and nephew Dustin (Amie) Weida and great niece Taylor Weida.
As much as we would like her to still be here with us, she would rather be at a concert. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Rock by the Sea, a 501c3 that organizes & holds music events to raise money for deserving charities. Www.RockByTheSea.org
An open house to celebrate her life will be held from 2pm to 6pm on Saturday, August 30th at 489 Hudson Ave., Newark, Ohio.
