Norma was born in Bucyrus, Ohio. Following high school, she moved to Columbus to attend the Mount Carmel School of Nursing, graduate of the class of 1954. Norma had a lifelong love, devotion and loyalty to Mt. Carmel where she began her nursing career. Over a 10 year period, all 7 of her children were born at Mt. Carmel West. She was a devoted stay at home mom. Norma returned to nursing at St. Anthony Hospital after her youngest was in elementary school. A former patient whom she would see at church always reminded her that she had saved his life. Norma and Gene made their home in Clintonville and were parishioners at Immaculate Conception for nearly 60 years, volunteering there in many capacities, specifically with the Women’s Club funeral lunches and the pie booth at the I.C. festival.
Norma was a proud and devoted grandmother, always offering her homemade treats to her grandchildren. Norma was amazingly talented in the kitchen, often preparing delicious meals for the entire family. She was never happier than when she was surrounded by her family.
The family is extremely grateful for the loving care and kindness that was given to Norma by the exceptional staff at the Forum at Knightsbridge.
We will celebrate Norma’s life with a private family funeral at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to Immaculate Conception Church/School (ICcols.org) 414 E. North Broadway Columbus, OH 43214.
