On Thursday, May 1st, 2025, Norma Leigh Miller, passed away at the age of 74, surrounded by her children and siblings.
Norma was born on December 9th, 1950 in Portsmouth, Ohio to Norman and Priscilla (Arthurs) Miller. A graduate of Notre Dame High School class of 1969. She completed her Bachelor of Arts from THE Ohio University followed by two Masters (Master of Arts and Master of Public Administration) from Ohio State University. In 1985, Norma founded a real estate brokerage, Brokers & Associates, with her business partner, Judy Tackett. Over the next four decades she brokered thousands of real estate transactions, ranging from the sale of million dollar homes to simple lease agreements.
Through the years Norma built a reputation for fierce negotiation, responsiveness, and putting her clients’ interest above her own. In addition to her success with Brokers & Associates, Norma built a large portfolio of rental properties that will be continued by her children.
Norma is preceded in death by her father, Norman, mother, Priscilla, ex-husband Alan Steigerwalt, and treasured dog, Scout. She is survived by her three children, Daniel (Alyssa) Steigerwalt, John Steigerwalt and Kathryn (Michael) Downey and grandsons Jameson, Owen, Liam Downey and Sterling Steigerwalt, as well as her siblings, Linda (Bill), Joyce, Phil (Brenda), Mary (Mark), Patti (Fred), Mike (Chris) and a plethora of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Norma had a passion for traveling (Ireland, Myrtle Beach), card playing, and enjoying happy hour. She also loved hosting international exchange students and always had a comical story to tell. She was known as the life of the party, being a home remedy guru, and for her adventures at Ohio University. Norma was a devout Catholic. Friends may call 4pm-7pm, Wednesday, May 7th, at Egan Ryan 4661 Kenny Road, Columbus, OH 43220 with Rosary at 7 pm.. Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday, May 8th, 10:30 am St. Margaret of Cortona, 1600 North Hague Avenue, Columbus OH 43204. Burial Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to AFS Exchange Programs.
