Nancy Lou (Althoff, Smith) Claffey

Nancy Lou Claffey (Althoff, Smith), age 81, passed away to a better place on August 12, 2025 at 12:25 am. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on August 30, 1943 to the late Robert and Henrietta (Decker) Althoff. Nancy dedicated her life to raising and supporting her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She loved attending all of their sporting events, pageants and all other activities.  Nancy was preceded in death by her first husband, Michael Joseph Smith; daughter, Stacey Curley and her parents, Robert and Henrietta Althoff.  She is survived by her husband, Daniel E. Claffey; son, Keith M. (Michelle Guevara-Smith) Smith; grandchildren, Madeleine (Josef) Asfoura, Alexandra (Kevin) Petrella, Michael Smith, Audrey Smith, Sydney Curley and Matteo Curley; great-grandchildren, Gemma Petrella and Giuliana Petrella; brothers, Dennis Althoff and Kevin Althoff.  A burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Columbus Police Foundation or The American Cancer Society.
