Nancy was a musician with a lifelong passion for music. She earned her bachelor’s degree in music education from the College of Woosterin 1956 and earned her Degree of Master of Music from the University of Texas in 1958. She was active in her musical talents throughout her life, playing cello from an early age then the trombone so she could march in the marching band. At the age of 15 she was one of 75 girls selected from Canada and United States to play in the American Canadian all girl band. In 1953, she was selected to perform with the All-College Variety Show performing for the GIs stationed in Bermuda, the Azores, Scotland, and Iceland.
Nancy was Professor of Music for 50 plus years at the Capital University Conservatory until fully retiring at the age of 86. Nancy loved teaching music and taught private cello lessons to hundreds of students in the Columbus area for over 50 years.
In addition to her musical acumen, she enjoyed hobbies such as gardening, knitting, crocheting, mosaic glass art and playing cards. During COVID she knitted 50 lap blankets as well as many hats and scarves, donating them to the YMCA where she participated with Silver Sneakers until she was 90.
Nancy hiked all the Columbus Metro Park trails over the last 20 years and enjoyed game days with her friends every week up until her passing
Her favorite place to be since childhood was a cottage that her father built on Crane Lake, near Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada, where she would peacefully listen to the Loons on the water.
There will be no funeral or service upon her wishes, but a celebration of life will be held at a later time. She will be cremated and rested at Crane Lake, so she can be at the place she loved the most.
