Monica J. Lisska Ryan, of Shelby Township, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026, surrounded by her family at the age of 85.
Born on May 15, 1941, to Dorothy and Stanley Lisska, Monica was the eldest of five children. She is survived by her beloved siblings, Mary Ciccerella (Lt. Col. Warren), Mark Lisska, Stash Lisska (Patti), and Patty Daily.
Monica was the devoted wife of the late Patrick Egan Ryan Sr. The couple was married on September 5, 1964, and shared a life centered on faith, family, and love. Together they raised three children: Dr. Patrick Egan Ryan Jr.; Ann Mary Smith (Walter); and Erin Shivaun Kablak (Jerry).
Monica's greatest joy was her family. She was a proud grandmother to eleven grandchildren: Sean Ryan (Kaitlyn), Shane Ryan (Kayla), Shanley Demsich (Kevin), Killian Smith (Bettina), Kyle Smith, Dalton Smith (Kelsey), Aileen Webber (Devin), Madison Zuccarini (Tony), Jake Kablak (Mady), Mitch Kablak (Bernadette), and Nick Kablak. She was also the cherished great-grandmother of eighteen great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense pride, joy, and happiness. Monica treasured every opportunity to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished by her family for generations to come.
Monica graduated from St. Mary's Preparatory and went on to attend and graduate from St. Mary's of the Springs, earning a degree in Medical Technology. She dedicated her professional life to healthcare, serving others with skill, compassion, and commitment. Her remarkable work ethic was evident throughout her career, which she continued until retiring at the age of 80.
Outside of her profession, Monica found great happiness in gardening. She took pride in cultivating beautiful gardens and found peace in nurturing the things she loved. Her home was a place of warmth, hospitality, and unconditional love for family and friends.
A woman of deep and unwavering Catholic faith, Monica lived her life guided by her beliefs. Her faith shaped her character and inspired her kindness, generosity, resilience, and devotion to her family. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, strength, and love that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Monica was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Egan Ryan Sr., and her parents, Dorothy and Stanley Lisska.
Monica will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. May she rest in peace and the Perpetual Light shine upon her.
Friends may call Sunday 2-4 pm at EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 E. BROAD ST. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday 10:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 2692 E. Fifth Ave., Columbus, Ohio with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
