Robert Michael Kirkham, Jr. was born September 7, 1960 to Sheila Barrett Kirkham and Robert Michael Kirkham, Sr. in Medina, Ohio. Mike is survived by his mother, Sheila; his children Colin Richard, Molly Anne, Barrett Michael and Bridget Anne and their mother, Mary (Merzweiler) Kirkham; his sisters, Kathryn Faherty, Shann Patton and Patricia Hartnett; partner Heidi Key. His two younger brothers Timothy Kirkham and Joseph Kirkham predeceased him. As a child Michael’s family moved to Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Birmingham, Alabama, Blue Ridge Summit, Pennsylvania, Hagerstown, Maryland, Livonia, Michigan and finally back to Medina in 1975. He graduated from Medina High School in 1978. He worked at various jobs and attended some classes at Akron University. He loved to ski, ride trails on his dirt bike, and roller blade. He moved to Columbus in 1988 to help his father in his uniform business. After his father retired and closed the business Michael began selling cars in Columbus. It was a career for him and he worked for several high end dealerships. Mike loved to bring the best cars home to give his children rides. He loved to cook and host dinner parties and barbecues for his family and friends. He was quite famous in his neighborhood for his salsa and tomato sauce. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church 807 Havens Corners Road in Gahanna, Ohio at 3:00 pm on Friday, January 19th. Private burial at Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
