Michael J. Frey

Michael J. Frey, also known as Jason Michael Frey, passed away on January 7, 2026.  He was born on September 18, 1953 in Portsmouth, Ohio.  He graduated from Waverly High School, class of 1971.  He is a Veteran of the United States Army.  After being discharged from the Army, he attended Ohio State School of Cosmetology and then opened Jason Michael Studio Hairdressers in 1973.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Madeline Frey; sisters, Shirley, Georgia, Ruth and Sharon; brothers, Don, Darol, Jr., James, Randall and Charles Patrick.  He is survived by his brothers, Pete, Paul and Vernon; sisters, Wilma, Mary and Linda; many nieces, nephews, and friends, especially nephew, Oland (Cindy) Howard and longtime friend, Mark Schaefer.  Friends may call Saturday, January 17 from 9-11am at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 403 East Broad Street.  A graveside service at Amyranth Abby on the grounds of Union Cemetery will follow.
