Michael "Mike" Andrew Medwid
January 11, 1953 – April 24, 2026
Michael "Mike" Andrew Medwid, 73, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, and raised in Lexington, Ohio, he was the son of the late Andrew and Mercedes Medwid, who along with Mike’s younger sister Janet, and niece Sara Medwid Gorsline have welcomed him into heaven.
Mike was a natural athlete who excelled at every sport he tried - from his lifelong love of basketball to begrudgingly filling out his sisters’ swim team. However, Mike was most defined by his kindness. A friend to everyone he met (often with a gentle nudge from his wife, Margo), he dedicated his recent years to serving others through his volunteer work with the St. Vincent de Paul Society, helping with home improvements in his children' s homes, and being a quiet presence at every athletic and school event for his grandchildren. When his daughter Suzanne moved to Colorado, Mike picked up skiing at 60 and there was nothing he loved more than getting to ski with his grandkids the last few years.
His greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Margo; his children, Eric Medwid, David Medwid (Kate), and Suzanne Ambron (Jordan); and his four cherished grandchildren: Libby, Everett, Margaret, and Katherine. He also leaves behind his older brother, Grady Medwid (Cindy), and his twin sister, Susan Francis (Andy). Seeing his grandchildren playing and laughing together in his final week brought him immense peace.
Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Tuesday April 28th at the Egan-Ryan Northwest Funeral Home 4661 Kenny Rd. A Memorial Mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday April 29th at Our Lady of Victory Church1559 Roxbury Rd. Private burial later.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the St. Agatha St. Vincent de Paul Society in Mike’s memory.
