Michael Jolley Obituary

Michael Anthony Jolley born February 11, 1948, passed away peacefully at home on January 26, 2024. He was a lifetime resident of the Eastside Columbus Ohio. Mike was a graduate of Holy Rosary High School class of 1966. He proudly enlisted and served in the United States Airforce from 1966-1970 and the Ohio Air National Guard 1970-1975, with a distinguished rank of Staff Sergeant. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1973 and a Master of Education in 1975.

He married his wife Sue Ellen Hauck on February 10, 1968. They had a wonderful 43 years of marriage and enjoyed great times with their children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends.

He worked as a school administrator in the Logan Elm School District for 25 years. He retired early and began working as a Camp Administrator for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Mike enjoyed volunteering as the President of the Holy Rosary Alumni Association. He also enjoyed spending his time traveling with family and friends. He was an avid collector of buttons, pins, patches, electric trains, and other memorabilia from his many vacations. Mike’s family and friends knew his love for St. Patrick’s Day and the celebration of his family’s rich Irish heritage. He valued spending time with his grandchildren and going to numerous county fairs, the Columbus Zoo, museums and eating at their favorite restaurants with them. His smile was contagious, and he loved making those around him laugh with his quick wit sense of humor.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, William Anthony Jolley, mother, Bridget Elizabeth (Trant) Jolley, and lovely wife, Sue Ellen (Hauck) Jolley. He is survived by his children, Michael (Michelle) Jolley, Emily Jolley, and Erin Jolley; grandchildren: Samantha Jolley, Michael Jolley II, and Chance Jolley; siblings: Mary (Jim) Smith, Bridget (Scott) Rosshirt, Nancy (Ray) Jones, William (Diane) Jolley, Maggie Hart and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.
