Mary Lou (Herold) Del Matto died peacefully at Mt. Carmel East Hospital on September 24 with her family at her side. Mary Lou was a native of Columbus, graduating from North High School. Mary Lou is preceded in death by her husband, Santo T. “Bugs” Del Matto. Together, they presided over Del Matto’s restaurant from 1961 – 2005. Mary Lou was the hostess for Del Matto’s, welcoming the restaurant’s many wonderful patrons over the years. She was also Del Matto’s business manager. Mary Lou modeled in her late teens and early 20’s, along with her beautiful twin sister and soul mate, Joann. Mary Lou was an avid bridge player, and perennial winner of the Del Matto family and friends football pool benefiting from her “luck of the irish”. She was a long-time member of Christ the King’s bridge club and belonged to various other bridge clubs. She was also a past member of St. Charles’ mothers’ club. Mary Lou was most proud of being an amazing mother to her six sons, supporting them in every way. Mary Lou is a current member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish Catholic Church and a former member of Christ the King Catholic Church. Mary Lou is also preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Francille (Durkin) Herold, her sister Joann (Herold) Gauracini, her brother William “Bill” Herold, granddaughter Tracy, and grandson Jeremy. Mary Lou is survived by her six sons, Anthony of Reynoldsburg, Gary and wife, Jessica of Wilmington, DE, Bradley and wife Lorelle of Sammamish, WA, Andrew and wife, Linda of Alamo, CA, Craig of Pickerington, Mark and wife, Michele of Millersport, Julie Devore and Lisa Del Matto. She is also survived by grandchildren, Toni, Kelly, Christopher, Taylor, Allegra, Marianna, Julia, Matthew, Marissa, Daniel, Tyler, and Joseph; and great-grandchildren, Zachary, Alice, James, Liam, Aubree, Cecilia, Isabella, and Claire. A visitation will be held from 5p.m. to 8p.m. on Tuesday, September 27 at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 403 East Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, September 28 a St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish Church, 600 Hill Road North, Pickerington, Ohio at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to J.O.I.N.
