Mary Jo (O’Reilly) Holbrook, age 75, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2021,
with her 3 children by her side. Born May 3, 1946 in Columbus, daughter of the late
Joseph and Mary Catherine (Schirtzinger) O’Reilly. She was an active member of St.
Cecilia Parish for over 40 years, where she enjoyed being a member of the bell choir.
Graduate of Bishop Watterson High School Class of 1964. She received her Bachelor’s
Degree (1968) and Master’s Degree (1989) from The Ohio State University. For 30
years she taught Home Economics at Westland High School. Mary Jo will be
remembered for putting everyone else first, her devotion to family and her pride in her
Irish heritage, never missing a St. Patrick Day celebration. She was a wonderful mother,
grandmother who loved spending time with her kids and spoiling her grandchildren.
Mary Jo loved to travel having been to Ireland, Italy, the Caribbean and spent many
summers on the lakes in Northern Michigan. Mary Jo is survived by her children,
Catherine (Jeff) Powers, Christine (Alan) Mansfield and Kevin (Nicole) Holbrook;
grandchildren, Carrick Holbrook, Taylor Kurtz, Nathan Holbrook, Matthew Holbrook,
Mary Catherine Powers, William Mansfield and Jackson Mansfield; great-
granddaughter, Rinley Holbrook; brothers and sisters, Patrick (Diana) O'Reilly, Michael
(Linda) O'Reilly, Kathleen (Ernie) Witney and Margaret (John) Krieger; aunt, Eileen
O'Reilly; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Monday at the
EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME 403 E. Broad St. Mass of Christian Burial will be held
10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Cecilia Church 434 Norton Rd. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. In
lieu of flowers friends who wish may contribute in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Assoc.
