Mary Elizabeth “Liz” (Arnold) Germaine, 84, passed peacefully in her home May 2, 2025. Her beloved family was with her. Stephanie (Germaine) Hare, her spouse George Anthony Hare, and their children Caden, Leo, and Eve. Also present, her beloved son Mark Timothy Germaine and his spouse Brooke (Bell) Germaine as well as their sons Logan and Cole.
Mary graduated from Waterford High School in 1958 and then attended St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Parkersburg, West Virginia, graduating in 1961. Mary worked at a local hospital for a few years and moved to Columbus. She worked in nursing for 30 years, retiring from Mt. Carmel Hospice in the year 2000.
She was married to John Joseph Germaine August 14, 1965 and they lived happily together the rest of their lives until John passed May 3, 2023. During their years together they traveled, danced, and enjoyed their many friends.
Mary’s greatest pleasure was her family, her beloved children and grandchildren, all of whom she was most proud. She lived her life as a kind and gentle soul who loved gardening and her pets.
Mary was an active member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church for 55 years. Her faith, her church, and the choir she loved greatly.
Visitation begins at 9:30am on Friday, May 9, 2025, followed by the funeral Mass at 10:30am at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1899 McCoy Road, Columbus, Ohio 43220. Following the funeral Mass, the family would like to invite guests to a luncheon at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Carmel Hospice.
