Mary Dimond Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Dimond, 81, of Columbus, OH, passed away on April 28th, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and strengthened by her faith in God. She was born on December 25th, 1944 in Columbus to Joseph and Nanette O’Neil. From an early age, Mary was guided by a deep and abiding faith that shaped her life and the care she showed to others.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, John Joseph Jr.; her daughter, Catherine; her brothers, Mike, Joe, and Tom; and her cherished grandchildren, Ashley, Andrea, Jeff, Patrick, John Joseph IV, and Marissa. She was preceded in death by her brothers Jim and Dave, her sister Lois, her son John Joseph III, and her daughter Margaret, whom she now rejoins in eternal rest.

Mary was a Carmelite Sister in Germantown, New York, where she devoted her life to God in prayer and service, caring for the elderly and infirm with compassion and humility. After leaving the convent, she embraced her vocation as a wife and mother, while also serving her community through her work with the Columbus Police Department as a Lieutenant Reserve. Her life was a testament to faith in action, and she remained devoted to serving others through her church and community.

Friends and family may call on Monday, May 4, from 4-7 p.m. at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home NW Chapel, 4661 Kenny Road, where a vigil service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 5 at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 414 E. Now in God’s care, she is at peace, reunited with those who went before her, and resting in the promise of eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ.
