Martha Triefenbach Obituary

Martha Triefenbach (Marty), age 82, Columbus, Ohio, passed away at home on May 19, 2021 after a long and determined battle with cancer. She attended St. Mary of the Springs High School, and graduated from Sacred Heart Business School.  Marty retired from state government after working 40 1/2 years, 4 years with the Ohio Department of Taxation and  36 plus years with the Adjutant General’s Department (Ohio National Guard).  She was the Administrative Assistant to the director, proudly working for three Major Generals over the course of her career.  She throughly enjoyed going to work everyday, although not so much on the day when she found out she had to board a large and loud military helicopter with the General for a flight to Camp Perry. After that trip, she found out she was more of a “boots on the ground” type person. The friendships and relationships she created at the Ohio National Guard lasted a lifetime. Marty was active in her church and was a member of St. Elizabeth’s parish for over 50 yrs. Marty was preceded in death by her loving parents, Sophie (Zborovsky) and Joseph Kamerick. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Everett (Trief) Triefenbach; survived by her sister, Mary (John) Whalen and brother, Jim (Annie) Kamerick; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gordie and Cheryll Triefenbach. She leaves behind her wonderful and loving nieces and nephews; Jackie (Amol) Arora; Ryan (Adrienne) Kamerick; Michael (Christine) Whalen; Renee (Darcy) Cahill; Stephen (Andrea) Whalen; Cara (Matthew) Smith; Laura (Kevin) Kastens; Linda (Dave) Kranz who she will miss always. She enjoyed watching them grow into young adults and was immensely proud of each of them. She treated her nieces and nephews as if they were her children and they honored her every mothers day with cards and flowers. She was always interested in their schooling and their involvement in extracurricular activities; She also had numerous great-nieces, nephews and cousins. Her kindness and generosity extended to all of them and was only exceeded by the love and joy they brought to her life. With Trief’s “influence”, she became an avid fan of the PGA tour and also enjoyed watching the Blue Jackets and the Buckeyes. Friends and relatives may call at St. Elizabeth Church, 6077 Sharon Woods Blvd., Columbus, Ohio, Monday, May 24, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass of Christian Burial.  Immediately following church services, interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth’s St. Vincent de Paul Society, or St. Jude’s Research Hospital, 263 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Central Ohio for their loving care and assistance during this difficult time.
