It is with profound sadness to share the announcement of Marjorie Ann Spellacy, who peacefully entered everlasting life on Saturday January 17th, 2026.
Marge was born on February 8th,1934 in Steubenville, Ohio to Beatrice Clancy Barker and John Barker.
Marge is survived by her husband James Joseph Spellacy.
Their examples of commitment, respect and unconditional love formed a beautiful marriage lasting 72 years.
They were blessed with seven children:
Cheryl McCurdy (Pat), James Spellacy (Debby), Patty Yerke (Mark), Karen McCurdy, Michael Spellacy, Patrick Spellacy, and Kathleen Leonard (Eddie).
Rarely was an event missed with their 80 Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.(Adding six more to the count in the coming year.)
Marge was a devout Catholic with unwavering devotion to the Blessed Mother and St. Padre Pio.
In her later years she became a Eucharistic Minister, sang in the Resurrection Choir and was a Lector at St. Luke Catholic Church in Lakewood, Ohio where she resided for over 50 years.
When Marge and her husband moved to Columbus, they joined St. Andrew Catholic Church where she volunteered as a Lector for many years.
Marge instilled in her family a sense of pride in their Irish Heritage; a love of music and singing together as a family.
The greatest gift she gave to her family was her Faith which will be called upon during these difficult days without her.
Marge began a modeling career in her late teens and later taught at Barbazon School of Modeling and Acting in Cleveland.
She became a professional makeup artist and studied in NYC at Elizabeth Arden’s Red Door Salon.
Blessed with a beautiful voice combined with a passion for singing and drama, Marge became a professional musical actress.
She traveled with the Kenley Players and theatrical productions across the country.
Her talent was evident in Bye Bye Birdie, Gypsy, Mame, I Do I Do, Hello Dolly and Sound of Music to name a few.
Critics acclaimed her performances over the years earning the title “First Lady of Cleveland Community Theater.”
Marge lived life to the fullest with grace, humor, faith and love.
The family Marge leaves behind is forever grateful for the time we were blessed to share with her.
She was larger than life and her absence will be deeply felt.
Her legacy of Love Faith and Family will continue to grow for generations to come.
Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Egan-Ryan Northwest Chapel 4661 Kenny Rd.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Andrew Church Reed & McCoy Roads.
Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
