Marie S. Kennedy

Marie S. Kennedy, age 96. Sunrise December 31, 1923 and Sunset May 11, 2020 at St. Ann’s Hospital. She is preceded in death by her parents George Sr. and Nancy Guy Shelton; her siblings George Shelton, Jr., Margaret Motley, Freda Shelton and Dorothy Carr. Marie was the matriarchy of a 5 generational family. She is survived by her loving nephew Charles L. (Erena) Carr, Jr.; loving nieces Judith Wilson, Toni (Pastor Tommy) Hicklin, Virginia (Darryl) Fowler and Naida (Jerome) Cephas; a host of great nieces/nephews, great-great nieces/nephews and great- great-great nieces/nephews. Special friends Nancy Thomas, Renee Lacey Parks and Ella Mason. Marie was a God-fearing woman who accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Personal Savior at an early age. She was a dedicated lifelong member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Central State University. Marie was a member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated. Marie was a beautiful woman who was loved by so many. She loved spending holidays with family and cracking jokes with everyone. She especially loved spending time with the younger generations and just having intellectual conversations with them. Marie was a very punctual and detail-oriented person who enjoyed crossword puzzles and traveling. She will be remembered as a very open, honest, dependable, intelligent loving woman.
