Obituary

Lawrence J. (Pete) Green, 89, of Columbus, Ohio, passed on to his eternal life on November 19, 2020 surrounded by his loving family at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.  He has born on March 20, 1931 in Shadyside, Ohio to the late Peter and Pauline (Kopczak) Green.  He served four years in the United States Navy, and retired after 35+ years of service as a welder from Conalco/Ormet in Hannibal, Ohio. A devoted Catholic, he was formerly a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Bellaire, Ohio, before moving to Columbus and becoming a member of St. Timothy’s Catholic Church.  He served many years on the Belmont County Board of MRDD.  He loved family gatherings where there was always good food, games and good-hearted banter.  He also had a passion for fishing, Notre Dame football, playing cards, giving advice to his family and talking about the stock market. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings.  Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Barbara Anne (Hemann) Green, three children, Patrick Green of Columbus, Ohio, Terri Leek of Reader, West Virginia, and Andrea (Mark) Marchese of Columbus, Ohio; three grandchildren, Tiffany Hall, Bradley Marchese (Amelia Heston), and Chad (Brianne) Marchese; four great-grandchildren, Savannah, Austin and Christian Hall, and Liam Marchese; and one great-great grandchild, Noah Hall. A brief viewing will be held on Saturday (11/21) from 8 – 9:30 a.m. at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, and a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Timothy Catholic Church with Father David Poliafico officiating.  Interment will be at Holly Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Colerain, Ohio at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday (11/28). In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Simply Independent, LLC, c/o Victoire Fife, 4581 Dungannon Drive, Grove City, Ohio 43123.
