Joseph “Joe” Martin Zeitler, age 68, passed away unexpectedly on June 6, 2025.
Joe was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania to Norbert and Patricia (Duffy) Zeitler on September 18, 1956. He graduated from Kennedy Catholic High School and then earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Penn State University and a Master of Science degree from the University of California Berkeley, also in chemistry. Joe worked for 40 years at Chemical Abstract Services retiring in 2023 as a systems engineer.
Joe had many interests. He was an avid bird watcher, gardener, and baker. He read widely, loved music, nature, old-time radio shows, and crossword puzzles. He possessed a quiet and humble demeanor and dearly loved his family. Joe was thrilled to become a grandfather in 2023.
Preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Elizabeth “Bess”, and his brothers John and Dan.
Survived by his wife, Rose-Marie “Rosie” Drake; son, Will (Yang) and their daughter, Maelynn of Shoreline, Washington; and daughter, Mary of Seattle. Also survived by eight siblings who live from Alaska to Boston: Bill (Nancy), Mary Lieberman (Mike), James (Kathleen Joint), Helen Branton, Bobby, Meg, Ed (Cindy), and Patti Lizotte (Ray). Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation begins at 5 pm on Tuesday June 24, 2025 at EGAN-RYAN NORTHWEST CHAPEL 4661 Kenny Rd and a Service will be held at 6 pm.
