John J. (Jack) Isabel, Jr., age 98, passed away peacefully the evening of Friday, May 23, 2025 at Mother Angeline McCrory Manor surrounded by family. Born on November 7, 1926 in West Palm Beach, Florida to John J. Isabel and Anne E. Isabel.
Preceded in death by wife of 60 years, Beverly Anne (Wright) Isabel, his daughter, Beth Isabel Lullman, sister Mary A. Gilliam, brother James H. Isabel. Survived by two daughters, Karen (Lew) Smith of Butler, TN and Ellen (Kevin) Jennings of Columbus, OH, son-in-law Alan C. Lullman, Jr. of St. Louis MO; Grandchildren Alan C. Lullman, III, Lindsay Lullman (Jose Mestre), Courtney Lullman, Jessica (Brad) Lobmiller, Sarah Smith, Jonathan Smith, sister-in-law Elizabeth Isabel, five great grandchildren, Jude, Parker, Mara, Ama, Penelope, nieces, nephews and special friends at Mother Angeline.
Graduated from Bexley High School, class of 1944. Enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Achieved the rank of Radioman 2nd Class. Discharged August 1946. Enrolled in The Ohio State University, graduated in 1951 with a B.A. in Civil Engineering. Was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and Chi Epsilon, an Honorary Engineering Fraternity.
In 1958 founded Mason & Isabel, Inc., a General Contracting Firm with Mack Mason. Some of the completed projects include the Cooper Stadium, the horse and cattle facility at the Ohio Exposition Center, Eastland Vocational School, Independence High School, and the library building at Capital University. Was a former member of the Associated Contractors of America and the Builders Exchange of Central Ohio.
Friends may call Sunday, June 8 from 2-4pm at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 403 East Broad Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, June 9 at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Church, 893 Hamlet Street. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
