John Louis Murphy, age 85, passed away on August 21, 2024 in Grove City, Ohio. He was a graduate and class President St. Charles Preparatory School, class of 1957; graduate of The University of Notre Dame, class of 1961 and attended Seminary Oblates of Mary Immaculate (1961-1968). He was employed by Nationwide Insurance, Ohio Bell and was President of The Murphy Company. Longtime member of St. Catharine Catholic Church and most recently Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. He was very active in the church especially as a RCIA Volunteer. He was very involved in the central Ohio community including Gladden Community House, Franklinton Board of Trade, Mount Carmel Board of Directors, Printing Industry of Central Ohio, Suicide Prevention Hotline, and was also the Bexley Gun & Rifle Club State Champion. He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Murphy; parents, Louis and Verna Murphy; sister, Theresa Murphy and brother James Murphy. He is survived by his sons, John (Lisa) Murphy, Kevin (Julie) Murphy, Brian (Jennifer) Murphy and Timothy (Kayla) Murphy; grandchildren, Kali Murphy; Amelia Murphy; Brynna Murphy; Thomas Murphy; William Murphy; Adalynn Murphy; Isaac Murphy, brother Richard (Anne) Murphy; sister, Patty Demkovich and sister-in-law, Barbara Murphy; great- granddaughter, Scarlett Murphy; numerous nieces & nephews. Friends may call Monday August 26 from 4pm – 7pm at Egan Ryan Funeral Home, 403 East Broad Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 27 at 10am at St. Catharine Catholic Church, 500 South Gould Road. Private family burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
